The Forgotten Initiative

The mission of The Forgotten Initiative is to bring joy and purpose to the foster care community by mobilizing the body of Christ serve, mentor, and support the foster care community. In Nevada we have many churches engaged in recruitment activities through prayer, promoting informational information, and hosting events. Ideally, if one family from every church came forward feeling called to foster/adopt we could see children waiting to be adopted placed in their forever homes, children coming into care going straight into foster homes rather than modern day orphanages like Kid’s Kottage or Austin’s House, and we could have enough foster parents to effectively help children in foster care begin to heal.

We recognize that not all churches will have a family come forward to foster or adopt but there are many other ways to get involved including but not limited to praying, mentoring projects, collecting items for children in care, and respite care. No time, treasure, or talent is minimized when used to support the children, families, and/or workers involved in Nevada’s child welfare system.10646756_607676416008683_5770016663479663215_n
